Foot Trimming Course

Our farm vets and foot trimmers run a three day foot trimming course. The course involves a morning of classroom based theory followed by a further two and a half days of practical trimming in small groups. Both the theory and practical trimming will focus on the healthy foot and routine procedures and also how to recognise and deal with common foot conditions.

By the end of the course attendees will be confident in the routine trimming of cattle, trimming of lame cows, application of blocks and the best type of block to use in certain situations. Mobility scoring will be carried out and discussed, a demonstration of a grinder will be used and attendees will be trained in the sharpening of hoof knives.

Please contact the Farm Office for details.
