Defra have announced this morning that keepers of poultry and other captive birds are to keep them indoors for a period of 30 days. This is to protect them against a strain of avian flu circulating in mainland europe. This is a precautionary measure to help prevent potential infection from wild birds. Even when birds are housed the risk of infection remains so people should be disenfecting clothing and equipment and also reduce poultry movement as well as minimising contact with wild birds.
Please take the time to have a read through this important report and share with other owners and keepers.
