Lameness & Footcare (AHDB)

The AHDB Healthy Feet Programme promotes cooperation between dairy farmers and their vets or foot trimmers to increase education for correct identification and management techniques in lame cows.

The approach is centred around 4 success factors:

  1. Good quality horn and hoof shape
  2. Low forces on the feet; good cow comfort and cow flow
  3. Low infection pressure
  4. Early detection and prompt, effective treatment of lame cows.

The plan is delivered on a one to one basis between farmer and vet with the aid from AHDB resources.
