Foot Trimming Course

Six farmers have recently attended Friars Moors three day foot trimming course. The course started with a morning classroom session led by Julian Allen, Director and farm vet, covering the anatomy of the foot, the Dutch 5 Step Foot Trimming Method and the identification and treatment of lame cows. The following two and a half days were spent on farm with the attendees getting stuck in and trimming for themselves!

We recommend all keepers of poultry read this and check that they are not in the higher risk areas. In summary, most of our practice area is currently in a protection zone but not a higher risk area.

Dairy Sheep & Goat Conference – 21st – 22nd February 2017

The 2nd Annual Dairy Sheep & Goat Conference, organised by Friars Moor, takes place tomorrow at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Bristol.  With an international line-up of speakers and over a hundred delegates attending, the conference aims to inform and lead the development of small ruminant dairying in the UK.

BVD Free and BVD Control Meeting Wednesday 15th February, 12-2pm

Practical Lambing Course – 24th February

We will be holding a Practical Lambing Course on Friday 24th February 10am-4pm kindly hosted by Emma Crosfield, Lower Langham Farm. The course will cover the basics of lambing including how to recognise when to intervene and treatment of common diseases. The cost of the course is £50 to include lunch and detailed course notes.
